VEGAN RESOURCES AND EDUCATION

Thank you for visiting my blog, and I know learning about this stuff can be a little overwhelming. There’s some scary truth about what we try to hide and not see, but the matter before us is we should all be aware of not only our impact as consumers, but as supporters of our environment and the animals who’ve been here longer than we have.

Below is a list of resources to check out that may be helpful to you in furthering your animal welfare education, recipe’s to try, documentaries to watch, medical doctors to follow, books, and some of my favorite bloggers and podcasters on all things compassionate living.
Science has backed the benefits of eating plants. Whether you want to reduce your animal consumption by eating less meat/dairy products, are vegetarian going on vegan, or don’t quite get why people wouldn’t eat meat or cheese… these resources are for you.

WHY ARE THESE RESOURCES IMPORTANT TO ME?

  • because being aware of what is real, is important.
animal cruelty exists to give consumers milk and cheese, our hospitals are incentivized to prescribe over healing and we are getting sicker than we ever have before. It’s no longer acceptable to turn an eye to issues that are present in our world.
  • because what we eat holds a lot of power
(yes, plants have so much power!) and it’s about time we know how to enjoy them. Science is real, and there are many papers and articles proving the benefits of eating real, whole plant foods.
  • so we can be prepared to adjust our habits, and choose decisions that bless our bodies.
once we understand our personal impact to animals and the planet, we can make slight adjustments in our lifestyles that does more good.
  • because you probably know someone, have known, or will know someone who chooses to eliminate animals from their meals (or fashion) because of activism, environmental reasons or for health concerns. Be good to know WHY they choose to live this way.

I will update this list with resources as I come across them.

BOOKS

How Not to Die by Dr. Michael Gregor with Gene Stone
This book is highly recommended and for good reason, as it provides a wealth of knowledge, that’s broken down into digestible sections, along with nuggets of science backed info on how foods impact our physical and mental health.
The China Study and Whole by T. Colin Campbell
Food Rules: An Eaters Manual

DOCUMENTARIES + VIDEOS

The Game Changers (Stream on Netflix, movie featuring athletes, chefs, known actors, doctors)
TedTalk: Damien Mander from Sniper to Vegan
Forks over Knives film
What the Health (on Netflix, online,)
Earthlings

Watching any of these documentaries and videos will likely give you atleast one powerful take away. Allow the resources on this page to be a step to just learn more, to understand and be open. I didn’t create OHV to push veganism, but it should be important to be aware of the real impacts our choices make make every day.

INTERSTED IN A COACH/MENTOR?

ZKWELLNESS is a plant based kindness coach who is full of resources, and she has a free community for Women on Facebook. In addition, she holds a plethora of knowledge thriving on a plant based/vegan lifestyle with a partner who isn’t (just like me! Maybe you, too?).
I think to myself how much the transition would’ve been a lot simpler if I had someone like Zoe in my corner.
